The widening of Byberry Road would provide additional travel capacity to improve traffic flow.

This alternative would provide improvements to Woodhaven Road along the Byberry Road corridor from its current terminus at Evans Street to Huntingdon Pike.

For the Byberry Road Upgrade Alternative, bicycle and parking lanes are proposed between Worthington Road and Byberry Road.

Features of this alternative include:

• Connecting the Woodhaven Expressway to existing Byberry Road just west of the Worthington Road intersection;
  
• Widening Byberry Road to five lanes between Worthington Road and Philmont Avenue;
  
• Realigning the intersection of Worthington Road and Byberry Road;
  
• Constructing a new bridge that spans the existing CSX railroad tracks and realigns Byberry Road;
  
• Upgrading Byberry Road to four lanes between Philmont Avenue and Huntingdon Pike.
  

Under this alternative, Byberry Road would become a state road, and PennDOT would become responsible for its maintenance.
