March 23, 2004 Public Meeting
PennDOT hosted a public meeting late March of 2004 to introduce the Reduced Impact Alternative to the public. It was held at the George Washington High School in Philadelphia, PA. The meeting was attended by approximately 1000 people. A presentation was given by PennDOT comparing the Route 1 Build Alternative to the Reduced Impact Alternative. Reaction to the new alternative was mixed.
Joint Public Hearing
Over 1,000 residents from Philadlpehia, Montgomery and Bucks Counties attended a two-day Public Hearing in the latter part of June 2003. During the Hearing, PennDOTĂs Project Team provided information regarding the project's engineering and environmental studies, traffic and noise analysis, cultural resources and right of way.
The Public Hearing was held first at the Philadelphia Armory and later at the Lower Moreland High School to formally gather public and agency testimony regarding the project's recently circulated Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).
Woodhaven Road Public Meeting
Lower Moreland Township High School
On January 29, 2002, over 1,000 residents from Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Moreland Township were in attendance at a Woodhaven Road Project Public Meeting to review display boards of the proposed alternatives, review traffic study information, discuss natural, cultural, social and economic impacts, and view a formal presentation in the Lower Moreland Township High School auditorium.
